Barack Obama wins Nobel Peace Prize

Barack Obama wins Nobel Prize

Barack Obama wins Nobel Prize

Mr Obama keeps setting new records. He’s definitely not lost his momentum, afterall. Not even a year in office and he’s already won the prestigious  Nobel Prize award after his calling for worldwide disarmament.

He has also worked to restart the stalled Middle East peace process since January.

President Obama was honoured “for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples,” the head of the Norwegian Nobel Committee Thorbjoern Jagland said.

“Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as (Mr) Obama captured the world’s attention and given its people hope for a better future,” the committee said.

“His diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world’s population.”

The Oslo committee said that Mr Obama’s vision of a world without nuclear weapons was greatly taken into consideration.

Noble Peace Prize

Noble Peace Prize

“(Mr) Obama has as president created a new climate in international politics. Multilateral diplomacy has regained a central position, with emphasis on the role that the United Nations and other international institutions can play.”

The Nobel prize is worth 10 million Swedish crowns (£878,000) and it will be handed over to Obama in the Norway capital on December 10 2009.

Some critics in the press have been suggesting that Obama shouldn’t accept the prize but we don’t agree. He should.

Many people believed it was too early to award the president with this prize, but again…Mr. Obama keeps setting new records, that’s one of his greatest assets.

Congratulations to you, Mr. Barack Obama !

Definition of the ‘Nobel Peace Prize’

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Nobel Peace Prize (Swedish, Danish and Norwegian: Nobels fredspris) is one of five Nobel Prizes bequeathed by the Swedish industrialist and inventor Alfred Nobel. According to Nobel’s will, the Peace Prize should be awarded “to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses.”[1]

Alfred Nobel’s will stated that the prize should be awarded by a committee of five people elected by the Norwegian Parliament. Norway and Sweden were at that time still in union, and with Sweden responsible for all foreign policy, Nobel felt that the prize might be less subject to political corruption if awarded by Norway. The Peace Prize is presented annually in Oslo, in the presence of the king, on December 10 (the anniversary of Nobel’s death), and is the only Nobel Prize not presented in Stockholm. “In Oslo, the Chairman of the Norwegian Nobel Committee presents the Nobel Peace Prize in the presence of the King of Norway. Under the eyes of a watching world, the Nobel Laureate receives three things: a diploma, a medal and a document confirming the prize amount.”[citation needed] The Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony is held at the Oslo City Hall, followed the next day by the Nobel Peace Prize Concert, which is broadcast to more than 450 million households in over 150 countries around the world. The concert has received worldwide fame and the participation of top celebrity hosts and performers. The selection of Nobel Peace Prize winners sometimes causes controversy, as it has become greatly politicized and not related to issues of peace and the list of winners includes people who formerly used violence and terrorism, but then later made exceptional concessions to non-violence in the attempt to achieve peace.

First Lady Online

Carla Bruni-Sarkozy. Does this French sounding name mixed with an Italian and Eastern European touch ring a bell? Ok, there’s no French in the ‘Carla Bruni-Sarkozy’ name. “Carla” is definitely Italian, “Sarkozy” is Hungarian and Bruni could sound French but it could also be Italian. If it was a French name, there would be an ‘e’ at the end of Bruni to form ‘Brunie’. So…let me start from the start…Does the foreign non-French name Carla Bruni-Sarkozy remind you of anyone? If you live in Europe probably so. The mere mention of this name will probably have you gasping for air while drooling: ‘ohhhhh’ trying to sound French but you know you’re not so quit. It’s ‘ohhhhh’, not ‘oooohhhhh’. Everyone has an opinion on Carla whether it’s good or bad. She doesn’t leave people indifferent, that’s one of her strongest assets indeed.  Alfred Adler, a famous psychiatrist once said: “There is always this element of concealed accusation in neurosis, the patient feeling as though he were deprived of his right-that is, of the center of attention – and wanting to fix the responsibility and blame upon someone.”

Not trying to psych-analyse Carla at all. This quote just means that…hmm…Freud…help please….means nothing in fact because I can’t ask Freud since he’s dead and my psychiatrist down the street charges 100$ an hour just to say ‘hi, my name is…’ so I’ll let you interpret this little quote to your own likes.

I love first ladies. I like talking and reading about them. They fascinate me. Especially Michelle Obama.

In North America, you probably remember France’s First Lady from the media coverage about the Obamas on their first official trip to Europe after Barack became president. Ooops, I should have said ‘President Barack Obama’. In France, everyone calls President Sarkozy ‘Sarko’ or ‘Sarkozy’ so I assure you it isn’t disrespect towards Obama. (toward ot towards ?…living in England makes me have bad grammar.) I just like being all friendly and casual with the Big Ones because it makes me feel like I’m their good buddy (whatever that means.)  Back to Carla. Yes that’s her on the left hand side by the way.  Top now since I’ve added some paragraphs. And no, don’t expect an in-depth analytical coverage of her today,  nor a psychological analysis despite my quote above. I could throw up all the political analyses I’ve been listening since watching the news everyday and compile them into an encyclopedia. (sorry, nothing wrong with political analyses…Just being snarky and sarcastic…I know that we need political analyses they are important and I like them when the yelling fanatics aren’t part of it.)  We’ll stick to Healthcare and Obamania-not-so-mania-anymore for political analyses.

I’ll ‘shop-analyze’ Carla though and tell you what she wore today…it was Gucci…and not from the store  down the street in NYC but the one in Paris next to the Eiffel Tower. Anything close to the Eiffel Tower is supposed to be expensive, no? (That’s why I threw this in…don’t tell anyone.)

So there you go, ‘keeping them honest’….keeping Carla-Bruni Sarkozy honest about where she shops and digging deeper on the origins of her name.

If you live in North America, you probably remember her when Michelle and Barack Obama visited Strasbourg in France and there was this huge media frenzy over whether Carla and Michelle would clash. And the fashion of course. Who would be dressed better? Turned out they both wore a similar outfit, only Michelle’s was more colorful expressing her more ‘open’  and ‘comfortable-with-myself’ personality. Aside from petty politics, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy is not well liked in France, apparently. Not as much as Michelle Obama in the U.S. and I can tell you that Michelle Obama is even more liked in France than Carla Bruni-Sarkozy is. For starters, Carla used to be a model in the not-so-distant past, and when you type in her name in google, you’ll see naked pictures of her all over the place. No I won’t post these here, remember something about being PG.

People in France resent the President for getting married to a public figure apparently devoid of the kind of substance that is needed to be a proper First Lady.  But is she really? People are so quick to judge any woman who looks thin and pretty as being an ‘airhead’…and if your naked pictures are all over the net, that’s not exactly helping. But this is France, the country of love. Nakedness is seen as beautiful, not anything to be ashamed about so to the French, the fact that their first lady can be seen naked at the touch of a button leaves them cold.

The problem is not the nakedness but the fact that she lacks a certain substance and loves the media way too much.  The Sarkozy couple is branded as being ‘media addicts’ who love to be the centre of attention and will do anything to attain this goal. This is France though, everything is permitted, remember, I just said it, I know.

A president divorcing his wife after not even one year in office and being seen flirting around the world with a pretty brunette, and getting married to her after only three months? Piece of cake. Oh la la. It’s okay to be the First Lady of France and be seen naked all over the internet. Because it’s France. It’s ok to be the First Lady of France with a past as a model and a singer. Imagine if that was Michelle Obama…there would be riots on the streets by now…

Well back to Carla again. (Is it me or is it hard to stay focused on Carla as a subject matter?)

Anyway, it is not for me to judge Carla. I don’t judge others. Naked or not, I think everyone deserves a chance to prove themselves. Carla is trying very hard to fit within her First Lady role from all the many articles I’ve read about her. Yes, she seems more ‘submissive’ to her husband than Michelle is to Obama and she seems less indepdendent as she tries hard to fit a mould but France’s human relations are not like in America. So Carla can’t be Michelle. She is French (and italian and hungarian by blood now) and needs to adapt to her own country, not try to be the next Michelle Obama. If wearing gray all the time is what she likes, then so be it. If she started dressing like Michelle, everyone would start saying that she tries to emulate Michelle and doesn’t have her own personality.

You can tell sometimes she isn’t being herself and you feel for her. Trying hard, she does though, so she still deserves a little bit of a ‘thank you’, if not for giving France the hottest First Lady in the history of France. I wonder if Mary Antoinette was hotter? Sorry Carla, no disrespect, but it’s hard talking about your humanitarian work after seeing all those naked photos of you.

The purpose of this post in the first place was to show you Carla Bruni-Sarkozy’s brand new website.

Carla is the First Lady of France, a mother, a wife, a sister, a daughter, a singer, a former model, the subject of ridicule in the tabloids at times…that’s a lot to bear. (ok spare the details.) Now she is immortalized online forever; better than ending up at Grevin.

There you can see all the work she’s been doing since becoming first lady, her very own foundation helping victims of AIDS and all the nice things she does for people all around the world through her work. I wonder if she does it just to appear as a good Frist Lady or if she really wants to do those things. Answer: I don’t know. She isn’t Michelle Obama nor Margaret Tatcher nor Angela Merkel…. and that’s normal, there’s only one Michelle, only one Margaret and only one Angela.

Everyone is unique, even Carla…so do check out her website to see the real Carla, because after all there’s more than nakedness to Carla Bruni Sarkozy. Everyone can get naked but not everyone can get naked, have it posted online and still end up as a First Lady. That’s an achievement all by itself. And you’re wondering why, as a President and having a lot of power, Nicolas Sarkozy didn’t get those naked pictures removed…Well maybe he loves to remind people of how seriously good looking his wife is…and that’s the problem.

I also find the new opening format refreshing.  I noticed it on American Morning, too.  The show opened with Anderson Cooper standing and providing a preview of what was coming on the show.  It certainly made getting this review ready that much easier.  Maybe people felt that the show was a bit too rushed.

Raw Politics – Candy Crowley

Crowley on the death of the public option:  “Nothing is ever dead on Capitol Hill, it just goes away to the next session.”  Then she said not to bet on its resurrection.  Dems have to hold onto the public option on the House side in order to have something to bargain with in the Senate.

Health care

Health care

There do not appear to be the votes to pass any legislation with the public option in the Senate.  Anderson asked if the White House is going to try to pass some health care reform, even if it doesn’t include a public option, as long as their are some options for consumers to drive down prices.

In what is an odd trend to consult Hollywood celebrities for political analysis, Anderson Cooper spoke with Michael Moore on this issue.  Moore was standing on a Washington D.C. street at the time.

Moore has threatened to get rid of any Democrat who gets in the way of the public option.  Michael Moore fancies himself a champion of the public option, one who will lead the voters valiantly into the voting booth, all the while chomping on a Whopper.  AC asked Moore if the public option is the bottom line of health care.  Moore answered in the affirmative.  Moore said that every intelligent nation has either a single payer or a national health care plan.  Moore: “Trust me on this one thing.”  Moore claims to have prophetic vision, referenced his predictions regarding GM and the absence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.

I’m only including the first half of the interview.  The second is much the same.

After the break, Moore threatens to campaign against any Democrats who don’t support the public option.  I can imagine he’ll drive around in an ice cream truck.  Seriously, what direct impact has Moore ever had?  He supposedly got a store to stop selling bullets.  I’ve been a hater ever since he digitally edited a copy of my hometown newspaper in one of his movies. Note: I know I just linked to Rush Limbaugh.  I’m sorry, but the truth needs to be told!!!!

Moore to the public: “Turn off Dancing With the Stars.”  Anderson asked why public option supporters haven’t come out with such gusto as the teabaggers.  Moore said that it’s because nobody has rallied the troops.  He plans on using his film’s opening as political leverage.

Democrats who voted no on today’s bill did so out of fear, says Anderson, fear that the bill wouldn’t pass anyway.  “Where is the spine,” asks Moore.  AC asked Moore if he thinks Obama is spineless.  Moore answered that he is rather just a nice guy.

Digging Deeper

Candy Crowley and David Gergen.

Gergen was mystified at Moore’s focus on the public option.  Gergen posited that the dream of universal health care is that every person has health coverage, but not that that coverage is necessarily provided by the government.

Crowley added that President Obama is going to sign a bill that provides universal coverage, by any means necessary.  She said that certain White House aides were surprised that the public option took center stage.

Anderson asked if this new type of reform is health reform or insurance reform.  Gergen answered that the bills major weakness is that it doesn’t do much to bring down care expenses, doesn’t provide preventative treatment, and doesn’t address malpractice issues.  He predicted a health care phase after this insurance phase.

Crime and Punishment

Roman Polanski is under arrest in Switzerland for raping a 13-year old girl 32 years ago.  Woody Allen is campaigning for his release.  I can’t make this up.

Jeffrey Berg, Polanski’s agent, reminded the crowd that Pulanski faced justice 32 years ago.  Polanski fled for fear of not getting a straight deal in court.  Jeffrey Toobin answered that the way to challenge things in the American legal system is in the courtroom.

AC asked Berg that if he thinks Polanski has a leg to stand on legally, then why doesn’t he just come back and face the court.  Berg answered that there are other mitigating factors in the decision.  Toobin shamed the L.A. DA’s office for waiting this long to pick Polanski up.  Toobin “argued” that Polanski has been a fugitive for 32 years, even though he has lived an open life this whole time.

CNN is really going nuts with its iPhone App, so much that they’re offering tutorials on the air.  Larry King spelled App out when he mentioned it.  AC, it turns out, does not have an iPhone.  Maybe next we’ll have anchors plugging baking soda.

Up Close

Tonight’s Up Close was about the American man who went to Japan to rekidnap his children, which were kidnapped on the first day of school in Tennessee.  Christopher Savoie tried to reclaim his kids from his crazy ex-wife, Noriko, who stole the children away and took them TO JAPAN.

Mom Thief

Look at those eyes! Vicious!

Japan is not party to an international agreement on child abductions, so in order to get his kids back Chris went rogue and picked the kids up at school in Japan and tried to spirit them away to the American consulate, in an action that closely mirrors that of his ex.

Amy Savoie, Christopher’s new wife, was on the show and said that Christopher has been to the hospital since being incarcerated, but she didn’t say why.

Jeremy Morely, Christopher’s attorney, said that his chances of getting the kids back is slim.  Morely says that Japan”s legal system will by default find in favor of a Japanese mother over an American father.

Ms. Savoie came back on and told stories of several American men who’d married Japanese women and were blackmailed for $10,000 in order to receive a Christmas card.  Morely said that Noriko is likely safe if she remains in Japan.  The minute she tries to leave, however, she is likely to be arrested.

AC asked Ms. Savoie if she would like to say anything to the world.  She asked men who are 24-years old now to consider what life without a father is like.  I guess she is trying to inspire pity in her husband’s  Japanese jailors.

Lesson to American men: foreign women may be exotic and intriguing, but they bring with them a complete dimension of drama that American women thankfully lack.  Date local and take a cruise on your honeymoon.  You’ll get the best of both worlds.

Keeping Them Honest

Big Scam – Arthur Group Executive Search – Drew Griffin

This company targeted former executives in Minnesota.  Mike Myser, former vice president of a tech firm who had left to pursue an independent business,  found the Arthur Group online.  He was then talked out of $3,000.  The directors’ MO was to stoke the applicant’s ego and then offer resume services.

Facebook Obama Poll is Disgusting BUT…

Facebook users who participated in the recent Obama polls that inquire whether President Obama should die probably took the polls as one of those things that some nut starts at Facebook. It’s stupid however, if not downright hateful. It tells me that someone wishes Obama dead and wishes to express that rather wicked wish by coming up with a POLL on Facebook.

Is something like this covered by the First Amendment and freedom of speech clause? I would say yes.

That also means that the Secret Service have every right to investigate anyone wanting the President of the United States dead. Yet, it frankly does NOT amaze me because .. well, it’s Facebook.

It’s the same social networking network anyway that also allowed sites such as “Israel is NOT a Country”; “I Hate Jews”; “There is NO Israel”, “F**ck Israel” but I didn’t hear any reportage against these groups. There was even a Holocaust denial site at Facebook. That’s exactly what keeps the Jewish Internet Defense Forces busy these days. The JIDF founder , David Appleton (probably not his real name), makes damn sure that every anti-Jewish website is taken noticed by the Facebook community so that those who have some sense of decency can, at least, FLAG and report the group as promoting terrorism, racial conflict and hate.

Personally, I completely support that JIDF after it found out that plans of terrorism are actually being planned by Hezbollah in a Facebook group. Violence is not covered at all by the First Amendment and so is the oppression of any group — be they women, Jews, blacks and gays. Thus, it isn’t surprising that someone wants to kill Barack Obama at Facebook. There are millions of Facebook users and there are terrorists, plain crazies, killers, or plain psychos. The JIDF discovered that there are groups of terrorists who even meet and exchange ideas over at Facebook.

Sure, we should care about Barack Obama. We support the Secret Service in investigating those behind the “polls” asking people if they want him dead. On the other hand, we suggest that these groups be deleted too : * F**k Israel And Their Holocaust Bull**** – 838 members * F**k Israel And Their Holocaust Bull***** – 128 members * Holocaust Revisionists – 52 members * Holohoax – 24 members * Holocaust: A series of lies – 31 members * Holocaust is a Myth – 42 members * How Many People Hate Israel? – 68,000 members * i bet i can find thousands who hate israel, we hate those child killers – 55,000 members * I Wonder How Quickly I Can Find 1,000,000 People Who HATE Israel…- 27,437 members * Invite your friends if u hate “ISRAEL” – 15,228 members * I bet I can find 1,000,000 people who hate Israel -14,051 members * We bet we can find 1.000.000 person hate “Israel” – 11,119 members * We Hate Israel – 4,717 members * Zgnječi Izrael!Destroy Israel!- 1,584 members * I Hate Israel – 1,322 members * HATE ISRAEL – 823 members * Hate Israel! – 416 members * HATE ISRAEL – 337 members * God Destroy all of Israel -172 Members * how to help Gaza = how to destroy Israel ( Join us to Act in your Field ) – 24 members

Isn’t it amazing how one group even has a Do It Yourself group on ways and means to destroy Israel? Okay, we can also please the First Amendment but then again, I am NOT one who wishes to discuss the death and destruction of a people or nation – or a person. Even if it was George W. Bush during his days and there were about a thousand anti-Bush Facebook groups. Or maybe George W. wasn’t sensitive or easily offended. Or it would have cost the government more than two wars to send the Secret Service to investigate every Facebook group that attacked George W.Bush.

For some reason, I miss that guy today and wish him well.

Dontcha wish your grin was hot like MINE ? Ahmadinejad CAUGHT on tape

Iranian President Ahmadinejad made headlines everywhere in the world as he was caught off guard and infamously grinned earlier this week. In the video below, he smiles uncomfortably, blinks his eyes a lot and looks visibly embarassed when asked by an American reporter LIVE on camera that his secret nuclear facility in Iran is about to be exposed by President Barack Obama, France’s Nicolas Sarkozy and Britain’s Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

Ahmadinejad did not want to answer the questions, simply stating that President Obama is ‘wrong’…

The video below (much better than a photo):

Ahmadinejad always seems to have a grin to me, look at the photos below…but yes he really had that ‘busted’ grin today, without a shadow of a doubt. I didn’t now Ahmadinejad well but after seeing this video I truly have no respect for him whatsoever (not that I had any before), and he came across as rather immature and childish.

Anderson Cooper. How are you?

Yes I’m reporting on your reporting/anchoring of yesterday’ show in case you read this. I would like to thank you for bringing us unbiased stories where you make sure that you don’t tell us things that just don’t exist…just like for the Census Worker Mystery Death story. I always thought you did an excellent job at being faithful to bring us the story as it is and not sugarcoat it or lie about it for the sake of making a headline. Although I know it’s not my fault, I’m sorry that people keep saying CNN sugarcoats/sensationalises/makes up stories. I’ve never felt this coming from you and whoever says the opposite is deaf or blind, possibly both. I and everyone who reads this blog truly love your reporting style, even when we joke around about things. At the end of the day, it is so refreshing to have an anchor who is so into his reporting, who visibly cares about the people he reports about but who knows how to stay incredible cool, calm and collected. I’ll end by saying thank you.

About Iranian President Ahmedinejad, I find it hillarious that people never know how to spell and pronounce his name…i once heard someone call him “Ahmadpyjama” on a forum.

This said….on to yesterday’s show and I hope you’re not upset I didn’t post the photo of you and Kelly having dinner. No I don’t have anything, just messing with ya.

Lastly Cooper and everyone else, I’m not Aaron with all his techy top notch material so my photos are not of a quality as high as his…bet ya can’t wait for him to report Tuesday…
